on friday i get a call from yogesh that there was a plan to go to Sariska on sunday. any ride, im in.. so sunday morning i left home at 4am to meet others at Gurgaon Toll Gate. It was a cold morning and i was all packed up in woolens..
waiting for others to come..

in 10 minutes came Shamik with Nadya as pillion. In a few more minutes came Yogesh and our group was complete for the moment. the fourth rider was Bhuwan who would be joining us on the way. Early morning, still dark and NH8 was pretty empty. a few trucks were there but not many cars. we made good progress and after 100kms stopped here for tea..

after having to wait very long for the tea, we started again.. again a 100kms ride and we reached Hotel King, a few kms before Shahpura, at 8am. Here we waited for Bhuwan, who along with his colleague joined us in half an hour. Then we started for Sariska. Soon we left the lovely NH8 and turned for Alwar from Shahpura. After some bad roads and lots of back pains we reached Sariska. the gate..

the tiger from delhi..

As soon as we entered the sanctuary we saw many deers and peacocks on both sides of the road..

and also langur's watching us from the trees..

as we got closer the animals started walking into the jungle..

the chopper from jaipur.. :)

more spectators..

our first destination was Kankawari fort. we were so engrossed in riding that Yogesh and me missed the turn for the fort and Bhuwan had to chase us down. we came back and left the main road and took a dirt track. After some enjoyable off-roading in the desert sand we reached this place..

a man standing there said that the way from here was no motorable and we had taken the wrong cut. we turned back and rode till the main road. then we took the right cut. the dirt track..

this route was longer. it was fun riding with the rear and front wheels slipping in all directions, practicing keeping them in-line. On route view was also good. a peacock next to a waterbody..

our destination.. the fort..

there was a big lake next to fort where many animals were grazing.. as the fort got closer..

bhuwan and me waiting for yogesh and shamik to arrive..

the locals gathered to see people dressed in weird clothes, riding bikes in the sanctuary..

the village hut nearby..

its inhabitants..

padharo sa..

they finally came after a lot of time.. the group..

a small distance up-hill bought us to the fort gate..

not much to see in the fort.. just these ruins which were under renovation..

but view below was good.. as seen from the wall windows..

some day i will have a bike which will be able to climb this easily..

after coming down, bhuwan wondered off to some other route.. while waiting for him i got some "orkut" pics clicked.. thanks to yogesh..

i saw this bird which looked like an eagle and was white in colour. i tried getting closer but it flew off..

we waited a lot for bhuwan but he dint show up. we thought he must have left for the main road and started back. after reaching the main road there was no sign of bhuwan. we again waited for almost half an hour. then we thought bhuwan must have reached the main gate, so we started for main gate. at the main gate we found bhuwan repairing his bike. it was not starting.

yogesh went to the nearby village to get a mechanic. macros while waiting..

a monkey busy eating..

then when yogesh came back, we started for a jungle safari in a jeep.. the trail and shamik in action..

a neelgai.. or is that a sambar.. jo bhi..

jungle roads..

a peacock on a tree..

a traffic jam, a la jungle..

a male peacock flirting with the ladies..

more peacocks.. there were lots of them everywhere..

a cheetal posing for us..

look closely at this pic.. here there is a langur (white thing) in the tree who is dropping the fruits for the deer standing below. good example of a healthy ecosystem..

a stag..

who doesn't need monkeys to get his food..

after many more deers and peacocks our jungle safari ended.. no sign of the king himself. the guide told us that there were just 2 tigers in the whole jungle.. very slim chances of seeing one.. we were parked near a checkpost when we saw these birds.. a bulbul..

a deer wondering out of the jungle..

as the sun was setting..

the model of the day.. posing with confidence with SLR's and other camera clicking all around..

then our guide put some food on the wall. this attracted more birds..

a peacock decided to take a walk along the road..

another one joined in..

after a back breaking return journey we reached the main gate, thanked our hosts and rode back towards Delhi. It was almost dark and the return journey was very painfull with the heavy truck traffic and vehicles on the otherside of the roads blinding us with their headlights..
